
On November 11, ARS Moriendi working group members Piret Paal and Jandra Sule participated in the first meeting of the Health Communication Network Roundtable. The creation and development of the network is being supported by the project “Meaning Creation in Social Media: Health and Folk Way of Thinking” (EKKD-TA32) of the Ministry of Education and Research’s “Estonian Language and Culture in the Digital Age” programme.
The goal of the network is to promote cooperation and information exchange between different academic disciplines, research and application institutions in order to increase the health literacy of Estonian people and to design effective health communication strategies and applications.
The meeting was attended by researchers in the humanities, social sciences, and medicine involved in health communication research, policymakers and implementers, representatives of professional societies of health professionals, and patient advocacy organizations.
The roundtable introduced research projects related to health communication and discussed opportunities for cooperation. The network's future strategy was also agreed upon.
Piret and Jandra presented the content, different stages and previous research results of the project “ARS MORIENDI ESTONIA 2030: Medical Anthropological and Linguistic Research to Increase Knowledge Related to the End of Life and Death” (2025–2029). There was great interest in the project and a lively discussion confirmed the topicality and importance of the topic.
